Harry Potter Star Daniel Radcliffe Delights in Fatherhood and Bond with Newborn Son
Harry Potter fans around the world have celebrated the cast’s milestones, from marriages to welcoming babies, keeping the magical world of Hogwarts alive. This year, Daniel Radcliffe, known for his iconic role as the young wizard, embraced fatherhood for the first time. The 34-year-old actor candidly shared the joys of being a new dad during a recent interview.
Appearing on ‘Today With Hoda and Jenna,’ Radcliffe discussed how life has transformed since his girlfriend, Erin Darke, gave birth to their baby boy in April. The actor expressed, “It’s awesome. I think a lot of people said, like, ‘Just get through the first six months, then after that, it gets better,’ but I’ve kind of really enjoyed the first six months. I don’t know what I imagined, honestly, but it’s great. He’s incredible, and I’m just, like, in awe.”
For those unfamiliar with their love story, Radcliffe and Darke began dating in 2012 after meeting on the set of ‘Kill Your Darlings.’ The 39-year-old actress’s pregnancy was confirmed in March while she was in the final stages, and she gave birth the following month. In July, Radcliffe spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the significant changes in his life following the arrival of their child and described it as an incredibly positive experience.
“It’s great. It’s crazy and intense, but he’s wonderful, and Erin is amazing. It’s a real privilege to have this time with him,” Radcliffe shared. He also mentioned that he had always planned to take some time off, which not everyone has the luxury of doing, so he could be present with his son, a truly delightful experience. Radcliffe further expressed his enjoyment of spending time with his son and having some time away from work.
I think I’m gonna miss him when I go back to work later in the year. I think I’ll probably work a little bit less for the next few years,” he concluded. In 2020, the actor had already hinted at the idea of sharing with his future children the story of how he and Darke met on the set of ‘Kill Your Darlings’ in 2012, considering it one “hell of a story” to pass down.
