Vanity Fair released the first images from the highly anticipated film Babylon, which is helmed by Damien Chazelle and stars Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.

In the opulent Hollywood epic, lavish production values are emulated, drawing inspiration from the wild and innovative Hollywood of the 1920s. Despite the fact that every character in the film is fictitious, Chazelle draws inspiration from actual Hollywood celebrities.

Pitt’s character, Jack Conrad, is a hard-partying movie star who draws inspiration from actors like Douglas Fairbanks, John Gilbert, and Clark Gable. “He’s reaching a point in his life in his career where he’s starting to look back and wonder what’s ahead,” Pitt said to Vanity Fair.

Margot is portraying the tough-assassinated actress Nellie LaRoy, a cross between early stars like Clara Bow, Jeanne Eagels, Joan Crawford, and Alma Rubens. Nellie, a recent arrival in Hollywood, finds herself thrust into the spotlight, a situation that may be similar to the breakout of Wolf of Wall Street. “Margot possesses a very Australian quality—brash, bold, and hungry—that she was able to really capitalize on and use to accomplish a lot of really enjoyable things,” Chazelle continued.

December 25, 2022 is when the film is scheduled to be released.
