The controversial rapper and businessman Kanye West has had his account on X, a social network formerly known as Twitter, restored. This occurred after West promised the Elon Musk-owned company that he would stop posting hateful material, such as antisemitic remarks.
West, who was then known as Ye, was suspended from Twitter in December 2022 for posting an image that contained a Nazi swastika inside a Star of David. Since then, the post has been taken down. When West’s account was suspended, Musk claimed that it was because of “incitement to violence.”. ”.
The company reinstated West’s account, according to the Wall Street Journal, after receiving assurances that he wouldn’t use the system to disseminate harmful language, particularly antisemitic material. It’s important to note that Musk has not made any statements about the restoration of West’s account in the media.
An automated response with the message “We will respond shortly” was sent in response to an email sent to the company’s PR email address. Since his suspension eight months ago, West has not added any new tweets to his X/Twitter account, which has over 31 million followers. According to West, his antisemitic tirades cost him $2 billion in business deals, including Adidas cutting off their relationship with him. On a recent episode of Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” Kim Kardashian, who is divorced from West, talked about the difficulties she encountered in dealing with his offensive remarks. Musk revealed last week that Twitter would be rebranded as X, a letter he particularly likes, after completing the $44 billion acquisition of the social network in October 2022.
